“ it’s worrisome to me that i can
be read so easily. i’ve spent so
many years trying to hide these
pety things we call emotions. ”

a small grin grew on the blonde’s pink,
plump lips. clearly, she was upset &&
couldn’t hide it. her porcelain mask had
shattered into pieces in that moment &
                          surely made her uncomfortable.

“ i do take joy in pretending that i am alright.
why, you ask? because i won’t need people
looking out for me and i won’t be another
burden on the back of others. when you’re
my age, you learn that the only way you may
survive in this world, especially in the times
i’ve spent roaming around, you must put on
a mask of a pretty face and walk around as
if everyone you’ve ever loved is still alive in
          your arms. ”

“ so yes, scott, i am joyful that i’ve survived
this long. here’s my question: what about
                                                            YOU?
