He began to furiously rub the burn on his palm, only adding to his pain as he shook out several more cries. Stomping, he hardly took notice of the woman approaching him, instead wailing out bizarre noises as he tucked his arms against himself, concealing the burn from her sight. He kept shaking his head, backing away as he stumbled over a loose floorboard. He smashed into the wall, still sobbing as he protested her coming any closer. He didn’t want to be hurt—not by her—anyone but her.
“No…” He croaked, staring at the floor as he hugged himself and began to rock in place.
A tinge of panic ran through her body, but she didn’t let it show. She didn’t want to make the poor boy more afraid than he already was. She could tell that he was hurt from the way he held his hand & he was rightfully afraid of the woman who just showed up in the room. As quickly as she could, Katerina put on her gentlest self to try to show that she meant no harm. This boy––he was not human. It was quite noticable to her.
“ No, no! I mean you no harm. I—I’d like to help you. Would you mind? ”
The blonde woman did not move a muscle. She didn’t want to startle him more. To him, she must’ve been a horrifying stranger trying to hurt him like other’s may have. The way this boy looked at her — it was like he recognized her.
“ My name is Katerina, but you can call me Kat like the animal. What about you? What’s your name? ”
