[ therein lies the convoluted dilemma that is bound to arise when one belonging to mankind is well acquainted with one who is known to be incapable of expiring by normal means. more specifically, an overprotective immortal who has already managed to survive to witness thousands upon thousands of events. from the breathtaking sights of a seamless expanse swapping out colors to feature so as to emphasize the inevitable passing of whole hours and that of gentle tides planting tender kisses upon serene shores, to horrendous tragedies such as the shedding of innocent blood. one who has existed long enough to fully comprehend the unseen gears that prevent this bittersweet sphere of losses and triumphs from collapsing. those who traverse these unique lands for so long are to be respected when conversed with. as most of those with whom his efforts are frequently combined cannot be placed in this category of souls, it is truly bizarre for him to have to surrender the role of parent and perform that of protected. despite them having tangoed like so multiple times now, he has not quite become accustomed to the ways of this unfamiliar territory he finds himself approaching when around his elder. proof swiftly arrives in the form of him not even bothering to continue protesting her decision. ]

[ the enraged woman took a step back from him. crimson hues turned to their soft ice color as she walked back to her nearly packed suitcase. the room felt awfully eerie to her as she continued to place her clothes in the navy suitcase of hers. she stopped folding her shirt and turned to the man standing near the dresser. katerina felt a wave a guilt come over her as she looked him up and down. she’d done what she never wanted to do. now, in her eyes, all she can see is the young boy who found her in the woods. she saw a teenage boy just trembling in her presence because of the way she spoke down to him. that had never been her intent. she was just trying to keep the man who had protected her all these years in a safe place. & because of her recklessness, he was afraid of her. she dropped the black top and slowly made her way closer to him. her eyes looked as if the ice from them had melted away and were going to leave their remaining water to be released at any moment. ]
